Post-processing R tool for SWAT efficiently studying climate change impacts on hydrology, water quality, and crop growth

چکیده

Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) is widely used for watershed-scale assessment of climate change impacts, but post-processing model outputs a tedious job. An R tool was developed in this study batch processing SWAT output results. A case then performed the Double Mountain Fork Brazos watershed Texas Panhandle using an improved with to evaluate simulated future changes water balance components, total nitrogen (TN) load, crop growth over watershed. The results showed that average annual surface runoff increased by 8.9–17.9 mm 11.5–22.6 irrigated dryland cotton areas, respectively. Similarly, TN load areas approximately 0.4–0.9 kg ha−1 1.9–2.4 ha−1. yields 91.1%–122.1% 47.5%–84.0% under scenarios,

Impacts of climate change on hydrology, water quality and crop productivity in the Ohio-Tennessee River Basin

Nonpoint source pollution from agriculture is the main source of nitrogen and phosphorus in the stream systems of the Corn Belt region in the Midwestern US. The eastern part of this region is comprised of the Ohio-Tennessee River Basin (OTRB), which is considered a key contributing area for water pollution and the Northern Gulf of Mexico hypoxic zone. A point of crucial importance in this basin...

Assessing the Impacts of Climate Change, Urbanization, and Filter Strips on Water Quality Using SWAT

Precipitation changes and urban growth are two factors altering the state of water quality. Changes in precipitation will alter the amount and timing of flows, and the corresponding sediment and nutrient dynamics. Meanwhile, densification associated with urban growth will create more impervious surfaces which will alter sediment and nutrient loadings. Land and water managers rely on models to d...

Assessment of climate change impacts on hydrology and water quality with a watershed modeling approach.

The assessment of hydrologic responses to climate change is required in watershed management and planning to protect water resources and environmental quality. This study is designed to evaluate and enhance watershed modeling approach in characterizing climate change impacts on water supply and ecosystem stressors. Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) was selected as a base model, and improved...

Climate change impacts on crop yield, crop water productivity and food security – A review

This paper provides a comprehensive review of literature related to the assessment of climate change impacts on crop productivity using climate, water and crop yield models. The existing studies present that climate change models with higher spatial resolution can be a way forward for future climate projections. Meanwhile, stochastic projections of more than one climate model are necessary for ...

Regional climate change scenarios and their impacts on water requirements for wheat production in Iran

We simulate the effect of climate change on water requirements of cold seasonwheat in various climatic zones of Iran. The research considers both observedclimate (temperature and precipitation) changes during recent decades (1960-2009)based on instrumental records and projected future changes to 2100 based on theMAGICC/SCENGEN 5.3 compound model. 20 General Circulation models are usedbased on a...
